  Internship and Italian language

Idea

This program will give you the opportunity to combine a professional experience in an Italian working environment with practicing your Italian language skills in real-life situations. The placements in Italian companies and organizations are customized to suit your requirements, skills and personal work prospects. A preparatory course in Italian of at least 4 weeks is required before starting the internship.

Program: The Italian language course is held in the mornings from 9 to 1, Mondays to Fridays at our school in the centre of Florence.  Please find here further details.

 Examples of placement locations:

  • tourism, catering  and hotel business (tourist and travel agencies, restaurants, bars and hotels)
  • museums and art institutions (art centers in Florence, galleries, exhibitions)
  • import- export companies (wine production and food industries, buying offices)
  • fashion and textile industries (fashion design and clothes production, fashion photography, buying offices)
  • arts and crafts factories (leather, ceramics, terracotta, jewelry, restoration of wood, paper and paintings)
  • computer companies (web-marketing and design)
  • professional offices ( architects, engineers, lawyers)
  • welfare and social services

Start dates 
The internship program can start at any time of the year. The date and location of the language course will be arranged according to request. The preliminary language course lasts a minimum of 4 weeks.
 Requirements

  • Preparatory Italian language course of minimum 4 weeks
  • Italian language skills of at least intermediate level and depending on the requirements of the position
  • Minimum age 18 years
  • Minimum length of internship  8 weeks , maximum 6 months

Enrollment
The following documents should be forwarded at least 2 months prior to the start of the program:

  • C.V. /resumé in Italian or English
  • Letter of application containing a description of your language level, previous professional experience and expectations re. the internship (preferably in Italian, otherwise English)
  • Application form and accommodation request

A contract will be drawn up for the period of the internship and the intern will be covered by liability and workplace accidents insurance
Accommodation
Accommodation can be booked for the entire period of the stay. You can choose between the following options:

  • rooms in student apartments or in private homes – with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities
  • rooms in private home-stays with half-board or breakfast only

Certification and Visa
At  the end of the program, you will be issued with a certificate confirming your knowledge of Italian with a description of the work-experience completed.

Centro Italiano also partecipates in the Erasmus Plus Internship Programs.
As the internship is considered part of a language program and is unpaid,  no work-permit is necessary. For students from outside the EU, a study visa is required in order to study in Italy. This visa will be valid for the entire program.  For further information please check the website of your nearest Italian Embassy.
